“A place for people to grow individually and together, bringing challenges and ideas that may flower into community initiatives – to a large degree only limited by their own imaginations. People and groups of people will learn as they celebrate their cultures, share their stories food and music and explore and learn about their own communities, the greater Calgary community and about Alberta, and the history and land they live in.”
This idea, first voiced by community leaders in 1994, inspired northeast communities to work together towards the construction of the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness.
The Genesis Centre of Community Wellness story crosses more than 15-years. It begins with a small group of dedicated community members who made a commitment to improve their dynamic and diverse community, believing every community needs a place where its citizens – people of all ages, abilities and interests – can come together. For northeast Calgary, that place will become the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness.
Genesis Centre of Community Wellness aims to enrich the health, wellness, spirit and unity of the northeast Calgary community. The programs and services available to the community span a breadth of recreation, social, education and cultural activities. By engaging and embracing all citizens of the community, the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness will support and encourage individuals in achieving their full potential.
